About

April is currently a Ph.D. candidate in mechanical engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Cambridge, MA. Her research is focused on low-cost volume ultrasound methods and her broad research interests span medical devices, medical ultrasound, translational research, engineering education, and participatory design. Previously, her Masters' research at MIT investigated engineering self-efficacy in remote and in-person design classes.

Prior to graduate school, she earned a B.S. in aerospace engineering from the University of Virginia in 2016 and served as a education Peace Corps volunteer in Lesotho from 2016-18.

In her free time, she enjoys backpacking, traveling, reading, and hanging with her cat, Mushroom.
